A quick set up guide for BE-300.
I've read recommendations online NOT to install WinCE .NET update for BE-300. The word is that it limits some functionality on BE and is very difficult or even impossible to remove. I don't know any details beyond this but I thought this is a good warning to put up front.
First, I highly recommend getting a nicer Shell for BE. The one I use is called BeShell, and I find it very comfortable and useful. The advantage over stock Casio shell is that it gives you many more features and options, and that you are able to install many programs meant for Pocket PCs. Most of programs listed on this site will only work in one of the advanced shells.
For instructions on installing BeShell, go to BeShell section.
Note: when I was first installing BeShell, the connection was dropped in the middle, and BeShell did not get installed. I believe this may have been because I had a few other programs open on desktop. Second time, after reboot, it worked fine for me. If it does not work at first, try a few more times.
The next thing to do is to download PC Connect version 1.04; go to PC Connect section for the link. Older PC Connect on Casio cd will not work with BeShell.
The next thing to do is to download ActiveSync. You may or may not need AS; it allows you to tranfer files in an easier fashion and it allows you to install some programs that you would not be able to otherwise.
Look through the list of the more useful applications I have on this site. If you need more, look at the Links section; it will point you to some sizable BE archives on the 'net.
